I believe colour is important for two reasons. Firstly historical significance - is it the colour of old or original lines. Secondly - is it a popular and attractive colour to maintain the breed with good following. I would develop the bird of original line plus an alternative perhaps similar to gold buttercup so it gets the support of breeders. Would I be right in daying that the phenotype above is much like a Welsummer? In early days I derivrd willow legs from Welsummer.
