Sadly, after great effort and much money and expertise, this is happening today. The court injuction lifted yesterday in the Supreme court as DAFF was handed ownership of the entire flock. www.daff.gov.au/about/media-centre/dept-releases/2013/fancy-chickens-euthanased-because-of-exotic...

It is a sad time for fanciers here. 45 or so rarebreeds , most not already in Australia are to be destroyed.

On a positive note, the facility housing the adult fowl that provided the eggs is still being maintained in UK so ARPIS2 may follow shortly depending on protocols being set by governance. ARPIS1 took nearly ten years to come to fruition.

Why they don't vaccinate the chicks against Salmonella??
Are these authorities totally stupid?

A tip. Single combs are usally in the mid range for size. If one could extract size from the large leghorn comb and introduce it to horn, I wonder if that would make homozygotes express a larger tissue mass even if it were homozygote. It would have to be introduced in stages through buttercup, then horn.
